Description
Scope of Work Annual Backflow Preventer Testing Overview This service contract is to provide all labor, tools, material, and special equipment necessary for a contractor to perform Annual Backflow Testing and Certification as required by the City of Riviera Beach and Florida Department of Health. All testing and certification will be performed at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 7305 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL. Contractor shall follow all state, local, and federal guidelines. There are 44 backflow preventers of various sizes and manufactures that require testing. Personnel, Materials and Equipment Riviera Beach Ordnance Article V, Section 20-236 requires that State Certified Backflow Prevention Technicians perform the annual testing and certification utilizing properly calibrated test equipment designed specifically for testing and certifying backflow prevention devices. Coordination The contractor shall attend a kick off meeting with the Contracting Officer s Representative, and other applicable personnel to discuss procedures and OSHA requirements. Valves shall only be opened or closed by VA personnel. Failed Devices and Repairs Devices that fail testing and require repair are beyond the scope of this contract. The contractor shall notify the Plumbing Shop Supervisor of any failed devices. Separate arrangements will be made for repair and/or replacement. Deliverables The city of Riviera Beach mandates current certification of all backflow prevention devices be completed and all testing and reports be submitted prior to 1 July of each year. Contractor is responsible to meet this deadline. ***NOTE: After backflow devices have been certified a written report shall be submitted to the City of Rivera Beach and to the Plumbing Shop Supervisor at the VA Medical Center. This report shall include all inspection sheets for each backflow device tested.
