- Description
- SLAC is seeking a supplier of five (5) mechanical systems as part of the L2S-I program. Each system is composed of two main parts: A mirror assembly (with mirror holder, bender, and interface plate) designed and/or realized by SLAC. Three of the five VCMS will require build to print mirror assemblies provided by the vendor. The other two mirror assemblies will be provided by SLAC and not part of this requisition. The vacuum chamber and mover system (including all the motions, motors, encoders and supports) to be designed and provided by the supplier. The VCMS has to be UHV compatible, hosting a 1 m long mirror (plus its holder, cooling and bender), and provide pointing stability better than 25 nrad rms. The Vendor is responsible for providing complete, tested systems and mechanics, delivered safely to SLAC, and to participate in the installation of the systems in their final locations. The Vendor is responsible for performing all necessary tests, to guarantee that all specifications and requirements are met. The Vendor is responsible for providing all necessary documentation to the SLAC team, to enable future connection, installation, and operation of the VCMS, and to maintain them at their specified performance. All of the motions have to be performed by moving the mirror independent of the chamber. Angular motion as large as 7 mrad with 25 nrad steps and transversal motion as large as 50 mm with 0.01 mm step are required. The cooling and bending system is designed by SLAC. SLAC will provide the exact location (with respect the mirror optical pole) and dimension of the flanges needed to accommodate them. SLAC will also provide a detailed drawing of the interface plate and all the drawings the vendor will need to properly accommodate the mirror assembly into the vacuum chamber. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE. VENDORS INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS AN "INTERESTED PARTY" VIA THE FBO PORTAL. DO NOT CONTACT THE SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR.
