- Updated version of Request for Proposals regarding Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area campground management posted March 26, 2018 The National Park Service updated the Request for Proposals attachment to this announcement on March 26, 2018. Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is seeking vendor(s) to provide Campground services at Horseshoe Bend Campground, at Trail Creek Campground, and at the Afterbay Campground under Commercial Use Authorization. Selected vendor(s) will be assigned the following facilities: Horseshoe Bend is the jumping off point for exploring the Park. The campground is located uphill from the Horseshoe Bend Marina. It is nestled amongst a sagebrush and juniper woodland community. There are two restroom facilities, fifty-nine campsites (nineteen with water and electrical hook-ups, two with full hook-ups for the campground hosts), associated picnic tables, fire pits, lantern holders, and two iron rangers for campground fee collection. The campground is located a short fourteen mile drive north of Lovell, Wyoming via WY Hwy 37. Trail Creek is primitive campground twenty-seven miles north of Lovell, Wyoming, via WY Hwy 37 and a park road. There are two pit toilets, thirty campsites (one site with solar and wind hook-up possibilities for the campground host), associated picnic tables, fire pits, lantern holders, and two iron rangers for fee collection. RV and tent sites are nestled among various deciduous trees that line the side canyon of Trail Creek. There is no drinking water or RV hookups. Most of the sites are small. The Afterbay Campground is located near Fort Smith, Montana. There are two pit toilets, forty campsites (one site has water and electrical hook-ups for campground hosts) associated picnic tables, fire pits, lantern holders and two iron rangers for fee collections. The campground is located along the tree lined Afterbay reservoir between the 525 foot Yellowtail Dam and the Afterbay Dam situated just upstream of the Bighorn River. The vendor(s) would be required to manage the campground(s). This includes managing campground fees, reservations, and light maintenance at the campground sites. All interested parties must respond to the attached Request for Proposals(RFP). Proposals will need to be returned to the park by April 13, 2018.
