Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) / National Institute Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Thermo Environmental Instruments. 27 Forge Parkway, Franklin, MA 02038-3135 for a quantity of two (2) each: 1) PDM 3700-A1 Personal Dust Monitors which includes the PDM 3700 instrument, accessory kit and additional replacement filters; and 2) 34-00958 PDM carry case. Thermo Environmental Instrument's PDM 3700 dust monitor is the only dust monitor that is certified by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) for use in underground mining environments. Workers in these environments are required to wear a PDM 3700. NIOSH requires Thermo Environmental Instrument's PDM 3700 to duplicate and examine reported electromagnetic interference (EMI) occurring with Proximity Determination System (PDS) instrumentation (another MSHA required safety device). This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to James Ambrozic, contract specialist at eud7@cdc.gov by 3:00 PM EDT, 13 April 2018.
