Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Acquisition Division-Kansas City office intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Symphotic TII Corporation for a fiber optic winch for remotely operated submersible vehicle for the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) located in Ann Arbor, MI. A Sources Sought notice was posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on March 16, 2018 and closed on March 26, 2018. No responses were received. Justification for Sole Source The requested supply is manufactured solely by Symphotic TII Corporation b ased on the winch is purpose built for the remotely operated submersible vehicle that was acquired by the government under a previous purchase order. Additionally installation of another winch would require cutting and re-terminating the tether for the winch which would void the warranty for the remotely operated submersible vehicle currently owned by GLERL.
