- Description
- Combined Synopsis/Solicitation The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), requires a liquid handling laboratory instrument to conduct research and experiments. The instrument will be used to transfer small volumes of liquid (2.5 nL) from multi-well source plates (96-, 384-, or 1536-well) to multi-well destination plates or to solid agar surfaces. Liquids will include water with 0-50% DMSO, 0-50% glycerol, 0-40% dextrose, 0-40% galactose, 0-40% raffinose, 0-8% bacto-peptone, 0-4% yeast extract, 0-10% NaCl, 0-8% tryptone, 0-6.7% yeast nitrogen base without amino acids, 0-2% yeast amino acid mix, 0-109 yeast cells/ml, 0-1010 bacterial cells/ml, or any combination of the above. This instrument will be used to array and re-array barcoded yeast and bacterial cells into multi-well plates, and onto solid agar surfaces. In addition, this instrument will be used to generate nL-scale liquid mixes for common microbiology techniques such as PCR, Gibson assembly, restriction digestion, ligation, and bacterial or yeast transformation. For these purposes, accurate transfer of small volumes to a precise location on a destination plate is necessary. The instrument must perform these operations across a range of possible liquid types without a requirement for a priori calibration of each liquid. Reference the attached document for the complete solicitation.
