Description
Wage Rates - Davis Bacon Drawings - Berlin Waterline Replacement Technical Specifications - Berlin Waterline Replacement The scope of work requires the contractor to coordinate all features and requirements for replacing an existing waterline from within the existing valve pit to the riser pipe within the elevated water storage tank pedestal. The new line will be rerouted above the concrete floor and through the side of the tank pedestal. The waterline will extend out of the pedestal beyond the elevated storage tank foundation and turn down and run underground to the elevation of the piping exiting the valve pit. The water line replacement will start above the flanged tee fitting for the bypass line to the overflow line. A 4" Gate valve will be installed above the tee fitting to allow for isolation of the new piping for testing. Replacement of the fabricated tee will allow for the new piping to exit the pedestal without interfering with the tank anchor bolts. A temporary piping support will be provided in the riser tube to support the piping while the lower portion is replaced. A new concrete thrust support will be provided under the base bend to support the vertical fill/withdraw piping. The above ground piping will be 4" SCH 80 ASTM A53 black steel pipe. The underground and valve pit piping will be 4" ductile iron pipe. The hole through the steel tank pedestal for the new piping will be reinforced with a steel plate. The gate valves and part to the piping within the valve pit will be replaced by project personnel prior to this contract to allow for a temporary water system to be connected to the system while work on this contract is being completed. The contractor shall replace part of the piping in the valve pit to meet the new alignment. The contractor shall provide the above ground piping with heat tracing, pipe insulation and insulation shield. A new electrical circuit will be installed to provide power to the new heat tracing. The existing concrete floor within the pedestal that was damaged during the investigation to determine the condition of the fill material and to construct the new concrete thrust block will be repaired. Work shall be done in accordance with attached Specifications and Drawings.
