Description

INTRODUCTION: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Program Contracting Activity Central (PCAC) anticipates soliciting bids and subsequently awarding a single, Firm-Fixed-Price contract for the project titled Basement Water Leak Damage Remediation at the San Diego, CA VA Medical Center (VAMC). This is a Design-Bid-Build project. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project consists of partial demolition and replacement of gypsum sheathing at stairwell SW1-B-1, Records Management Room #B134, and corridor #B140 to reconstruct the facility partially compromised by water damage from a previous construction accident. Work also includes the abatement of Asbestos Containing elements within room #B134. VA Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Officer will conduct interim life safety measures outlined in the Specifications when Stair SW1-B-1 is temporarily shut down to replace gypsum sheathing. Work includes general construction, alterations, abatement, necessary removal and cutting of existing items, and construction of certain other items. Contractor shall supply all labor, material, equipment and supervision necessary for the proper execution and completion of all work shown, described, or reasonably implied, but not limited to that explicitly indicated in contract documents. ADMINISTRATIVE: The solicitation will be issued as an Invitation for Bid (IFB) conducted in accordance with FAR Parts 14, 19, and 36 and be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. The solicitation will be advertised as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small-Business Set-Aside. Offers received from other than Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small-Business concerns will not be considered. The applicable NAICS code is 236220 with a size standard of $36.5 million. The solicitation will be issued on or about August 16, 2018. The period of performance is approximately 120 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. This notice is not a request for competitive offers. The Magnitude of Construction is expected to be between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00.
