- Description
- Notice of Intent-Revised This contract action is for the acquisition of supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to TSE Systems, Inc., 186 Chesterfield Industrial Blvd., Chesterfield, MO. 63005, for an upgrade and expansion to the TSE Labmaster Metabolic Phenotyping System with the purchase of a TSE PhenoMaster System. This upgrade and expansion to the current LabMaste systems will include a new industrial computer to operate the upgraded software, upgrades the caging system so rodent standard green line cages will work with the system. Additionally, the expansion of the system from 4 to 8 cages and provides cage contril units for the cages, custom fittings for current sensors, cage and sensor fixation templates, new load cell sensors, automatic position correction, and autoclavable feed hoppers and water bottles. This upgrade will also include the shelving system, on-site training, and installation. Purchase of the TSE PhenoMaster System will expand an existing Labmaster Metabolic Phenotyping System with the abaility of simultaneous measurements of metabolic responses including real-time indirect calorimetry measurements, food and drink intake activity. The PhenoMaster system offers a unique modular design that enables three disciplines to be combined into a single, fully-automated home cage environment. Phenotyping studies for metabolism, behavior, and physiology are possible using the PhenoMaster system. This design allows easy expansion of the number of cages and add additional capabilities as needed. Currently, the TSE Phenotyping System allows a four mice cage housing capacity. This upgrade will double the cage housing capacity to eight in the system and decrease time required for investigators in performing experiments. Additionally, this upgrade will expand the data collected on the same mice, and decrease animnal usage.
