Description
Response to Addendum 0004 to extend Closing to Monday, August 20, 2018, at 12:00pm: Due to constraints with bonding, can you please update and clarify the liquidated damage costs? Liquidated damages shall be assessed at a rate of $4,000/day should the project not be completed by the last day of the period of performance. The previous calculation of liquidated damages considered them at the time of each shut down. Review Note 1 on Drawings E-001. The contract maintains that the contractor is responsible for this Note during the 4 area shut downs. The contractor will utilize the generators required by Note 1 to power the campus in the event the contractor fails to complete the shut down work in time for the campus to be placed back on grid power. For the individual building shut downs, the time frame of 8 hours per building shut down is the standard. The contractor shall be required to provide a generator of appropriate size to power the building should the contractor fail to complete the work needed to place the building on grid power at the end of the shut down period. Question/Answer: What is the reason for the last extension for the bid opening? The USMMA experienced a major utility electrical power disruption the week of July 28, 2018 resulting in half the campus losing utility power for approximately 5 days. Electrical work performed on an emergency basis included replacing 96 insulators in the main switchgear and approximately 980 linear feet of feeder cable between the main switchgear and the Furuseth transformer, feeder 1.1 and feeder 1.2 as indicated on the electrical drawings. This work shall be excluded from the contractor's scope of work for this project.
