Description

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to negotiate and award a noncompetitive purchase order to Geonx SA, Avenue Georges Lematire 54, Charleori, 6041, Belgium, for Virfac Welding Designer, Virfac Crack, and Morfeo Solver. The base period of performance for this requirement is 09/01/2018 through 08/31/2019, with four (4) one-year option periods. GeonX developed a unique set of software tools to model welding processes and cracking using fine elements and extended finite elements. The MORFEO solver developed by GeonX allows for large scale parallelization and does not require other finite element solver tools to be used to solve the problems developed. As such, the MORFEO solver will allow to independently benchmark results obtained with the current tools the NRC uses. The authority for this acquisition is FAR 13.106-1, which permits soliciting from a single source, if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only once source is reasonably available. Virfac is a registered trademark of Geonx and it is the exclusive seller of Virfac.
