Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 17, intends to award a Firm Fixed Price, Sole Source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) to Nikon Instruments Inc., 1300 Walt Whitman Road Melville, NY 11747 for the procurement of brand name Nikon Microscopes. This order for brand name Microscopes, to be performed within 30 days of contract award, will be placed on a sole source basis with Nikon Instruments Inc. as the following circumstance in FAR 13.106-1(b) applies: only one source is capable to provide the services required at the level of quality required because the Microscopes is proprietary to Nikon. The Logistics Department at the VA Central Texas Veterans HCS in Temple, TX currently utilizes Nikon Microscopes. The substitution of any other manufacturer other than brand name will not guarantee interoperability and cause duplication of cost to the Government. Delivery schedule will be discussed prior to issuing the  contract award. The anticipated award date is September 14, 2018. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes; however, that all responsible sources and interested parties may identify their interest and capability to meet the requirements by submitting technical data for this requirement data within  14 calendar days of this notice posting (no later than September 6, 2018, by 08:00 AM CST, to Eddie Clark, via email at eddie.clark@va.gov which shall be considered by the agency. Please note that telephone calls will not be honored.
