- NASA invites domestic vendors to attend an Industry Day for the Next Generation Optical Communications Modems on Monday, September 10th and Tuesday, September 11th 2018, at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Purpose: The purpose of Next Generation Optical Communications is to provide an optical communications relay in geosynchronous orbit as part of a new optical communications network. The optical payload for this satellite requires high speed modems for signal conversion. The first modem will support users at a variety of speeds dependent on user needs, while the second modem will be used for cross-links between relays and the space-to-ground link. NASA is looking for industry capabilities to support the development of these modems. Registration: To register for the Next Generation Optical Communications Modems Industry Day, email the primary point of contact, Amber Jacobson, including the following information: a. Name and contact information for primary respondent point of contact: include POC's name, title, and vendor information (email address and phone number); b. Total number of attendees; names, titles, and vendor affiliation. Once this information is received, Amber Jacobson will contact registrants concerning temporary badging and directions to the event at Goddard Space Flight Center. The registration deadline for this event is Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
