Description

The USDA-ARS located in Maricopa, Arizona has a requirement for a one-row crop-harvesting binder with 12" (300mm) header width, 8" (200mm) cutter bar length, 4-cycle 3.5 hp (133cc) overhead valve air-cooled engine, manual bundle assembly with side ejection and one lever transmission geared for slow to moderate speed harvesting (3 forward, 3 reverse) or similar specification is required to harvest and bind fragile oil and bioenergy crops. The single row binder must be suitable for the harvest of fragile crops such as oilseeds and biofuels that need to be harvested and bound intact. A slow to moderate speed harvester is necessary to maintain plant integrity during harvesting and binding which reduces shattering and cross contamination caused by other industrial harvester/binders.
