- Description
- One (1) Portable Mercury Vapor Analyzer (MVA) for real-time measurements (one second intervals) of low-level mercury concentrations (less than 10 ng/m3 lower detection limit) for emergency responses to monitor indoor and outdoor areas extent of contamination surveys, assess contamination items, and clearing structures for re-occupancy. The MVA is comparable to NIOSH 6009 methods for use in clearing structures for re-occupancy (refer to link to ASTDR paper below) and EPA methods 245 and 7473 for analysis of mercury in water, solids and solutions. The MVA is for indoor and outdoor use, thus is rugged, portable, lightweight, includes field performance verification and able to perform in the field for 10+ hours. The instrument comes with all hardware and software necessary for normal operation use, such as case/bag, power supplies/chargers, USB cable for downloading data logging, zero mercury/dust filters and house assembly (hose, nozzle, PTFE). The instrument is NIST traceable and comes with calibration certificate, user manuals, and quick start guides. The scientific instrument is replacing the Ohio Lumex RA 915+ which needs repairs, such as replacement blower assembly and motherboard. EPA is using the exchange authority of 40 U.S.C 503 and apply any exchange allowance from the RA 915+ in part for payment of the property being acquired. It is compatible with EPA owned water and soil analysis attachments, specifically the Lumex RP-92 for analysis of mercury in water and the Lumex PYRO-916 for analysis of mercury in solids. Environmentally Preferred Equipment does not use hazardous chemical for operation. ATSDR Paper accepting the use of Lumex Mercury Vapor Analyzer readings in lieu of laboratory analysis: https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/emergency_response/action_levels_for_elemental_mercury_spills_2012.pdf.
