Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 22, is issuing this special notice to inform industry contractors of the intent to execute a Sole Source award as prescribed in FAR Part 13.106-1(b), which will allow for the procurement of items through other than full and open competition with Regents of the University of California, San Francisco., 1855 Folsom ST STE 420, San Francisco, CA 94103. Prior to soliciting, market research was conducted and concluded Regents of the University of California, San Francisco, is the manufacturer for the equipment being acquired. FAR Part 13.106-1(b) allows sole source contracts below the simplified acquisition threshold to be awarded using procedures other than competitive procedures. This requirement is to provide a contusion positioning and impact system for producing reliable cervical contusion injuries for the Mansfield SCI consortium project. The proposed period of performance will be 90 days from date of award. This procurement is being conducted using commercial item procedures pursuant to FAR Part 12. The anticipated award date is September 21, 2018. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 339112, Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing. The Small Business Administration size standard for this sector is 1000 Employees. This notice of intent is neither a formal solicitation nor a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No award will be made on the basis of unsolicited quotations or offers received in response to this notice. The intent of this synopsis is for informational purposes only. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement for similar future requirements. A determination by the Government not to compete this action based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
