The required instrumentation systems consist of three components: (1) a triaxial force-balance accelerometer, triaxial strong-motion velocity seismometer, or triaxial broadband seismometer (the ¿sensor ¿); (2) a DAU, and (3) software for communicating with deployed units. When the DAU and sensor are integrated into a single package, the system is called a DAS (Data Acquisition System). These specifications are organized by sensor, DAU, environmental and packaging issues that apply to both sensors and DAUs, software, and additional requirements.
