- Description
- This action was awarded as an 8(a) Sole Source Set-Aside under the authority of section 8(a) of the Small Business Act. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Albuquerque District, is in need of approximately 60,000 square feet of erosion control matting to prevent further erosion damage in the vicinity of Trinidad Lake, Las Animas County, Trinidad, Colorado. Approximately 59,520 square feet of articulated concrete mat, cut to these specific sizes: o Fifty-Six (56) mats measuring 16 feet by 40 feet o Thirteen (13) mats measuring 16 feet by 45 feet o Eight (8) mats measuring 16 feet by 50 feet o Nine (9) mats measuring 16 feet by 55 feet Quality o All articulated concrete mats shall be constructed of concrete blocks tied with a high strength polypropylene bi-axial geo-grid. o Concrete blocks shall be 6"- 7" squares, and each square shall be 2" - 3" thick. o Concrete strength shall be minimum 5000 psi. o Space between tied concrete blocks shall not exceed 3" o Weight of matting shall not exceed 12 pounds per square foot. o Installed mat shall not deter wildlife o Mats may have geotextile integrated rather than installed separately Item 2: Cross Plate Anchors Quantity 688 anchors with cable and surface cross plates. Quality Anchor cables shall be 6 feet in length and come equipped with the proper sized surface cross plate and fastening devices to adequately secure matting as per the manufacturer's recommendation. Cross plate anchors shall be compatible with all other procured items and shall comply with all concrete articulated mat manufacturer's installation recommendations. Item 3: Zip Ties Quantity (71) 50-count bags of zip ties to secure mats to each other on longitudinal overlap. Quality Zip ties shall be made of stainless steel and of sufficient length and strength to secure the longitudinal edges of the mats in accordance with the articulated concrete mat manufacturer's recommendation. Zip ties shall be compatible with all other procured items and shall comply with all concrete articulated mat manufacturer's installation recommendations.   Item 4: Post Drivers Quantity 2) post drivers to install anchors listed in Item 2 Quality Post drivers shall be man-portable and of sufficient horsepower to set anchors to the required depth of +/- 6 feet. Driver shall be equipped with an appropriately sized drive sleeve that will safely and efficiently receive the drive rod (item 5). Post drivers shall be compatible with all other procured items and shall comply with all concrete articulated mat manufacturer's installation recommendations. Item 5: Drive Rods Quantity Four (4) drive rods to install anchors. Quality Drive rods shall be of sufficient length to install anchors to the manufacturer's specified depth of +/- 6 feet. Drive rods shall be constructed of steel and be durable enough to withstand repeated ground penetrations and extractions. Drive rods shall be compatible with all other procured items and shall comply with all concrete articulated mat manufacturer's installation recommendations. •Item 6: Drive Rod Extractors Quantity Two (2) drive rod extractors to remove drive rod after anchor installation and load anchors. Quality Drive rod extractors shall be man-portable and of sufficient strength and design to efficiently and safely serve as a means to both extract lodged drive rods and serve as a tension loading device for the cross plate anchoring system (Item 2). Drive rod extractors shall be compatible with all other procured items and shall comply with all concrete articulated mat manufacturer's installation recommendations.
