Description
The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) for analysis of complex geochemical and environmental samples (e.g., natural waters, digestions and chemical extractions of geological and biological material). This procurement is necessary to meet the analytical requirements of the Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Science Center (GGGSC) in Lakewood, CO, and will enable the detection and quantification of a wide range of elements needed to support Mineral Resources Program projects. An ICP-MS is an instrument that ionizes a sample using an argon plasma and measures ions after steering them using a series of ion optics, including quadrupoles onto a pulse or analog detector. The instrument needs to include the ability to minimize isobaric or polyatomic interferences from complex sample matrices in geological and biological samples. The instrument must provide high-quality, quantitative data of major and trace elemental composition of a wide variety of sample types, a critical measurement for research conducted in GGGSC. The government laboratory currently possesses the resources for sample preparation, ventilation, power supply, gas supply, and laboratory space to operate an ICP-MS. Funds are not presently available for this contract. The Government ™s obligation under this contract is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds from which payment for contract purposes can be made. No legal liability on the part of the Government for any payment may arise until funds are made available to the Contracting Officer for this contract and until the Contractor receives notice of such availability, to be confirmed in writing by the Contracting Officer. Delivery shall be FOB Destination to Lakewood, Colorado. Telephone request for the RFQ will not be accepted. It is anticipated that Solicitation (140G0219Q0002) will be available on or after November 5, 2018 at the following web address: https://www.fedconnect.net. No hard copies of the solicitation will be available. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this project is 334516. The services/supplies described herein are Commercial Item. This requirement is set-aside for small business.
