Description
The Low Conductivity Water (LCW) Upgrades Project will upgrade the existing 1801 LCW Cooling System and separate the current 1801 LCW cooling loop into two new loops, one serving the LCLS (Light Coherent Light Source) program and the other serving the SSRL (Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource). Loads that are currently served by the 1801 LCW cooling system will be redirected to a new LCW cooling system via an equipment skid ("SSRL Skid") supported by (cooling tower) CT 404. The project will also reconfigure and resize the LCW system currently located in the CT 1701 basin by installing new heat exchangers closer to the cooling loads to meet current and future needs via an equipment skid ("1801 Skid"). 1. Design Scope: A. Contractor to complete design of LCW equipment skids from SLAC provided conceptual design and required system parameters. B. Contractor to design civil and piping plans required to complete installation of new LCW equipment skids. C. Contractor to prepare drawings and submit for SLAC approval prior to developing and issuing the Issued for Construction (IFC) set. 2. Mechanical Scope: A. Reference Mechanical General Requirements Attachment 3. Electrical Scope: A. Reference Electrical General Requirements Attachment 4. Instrumentation & Controls Scope: A. Reference Instrumentation & Controls General Requirements Attachment 5. Civil Scope: A. Install equipment pads and piping support as required for the installation of the new LCW equipment skids and piping. The contract will be structured with a base scope and two options: • Base scope: New equipment skid (1801 Equipment Skid) that provides new heat exchangers and piping by the CT 1701 basin • Option 1: New equipment skid (SSRL Equipment Skid) adding pumps and piping to separate respective science programs • Option 2: Additional heat exchanger to carry load requirements of the SSRL science program; to be actioned only if Option 1 is not executed. Details developed by Contractor during design phase. Approx/Budget: >$5Mil Anticipated Schedule: Start: January/February 2019
