Description

Sole Source Justification The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Becton, Dickinson and Company for the purchase of antimicrobial resistance data. The BD antimicrobial resistance data covers pathogens of interest and includes information about the hospital, bed size range, census range, frequency of pathogens identified by culture source for the inpatient and non-acute care setting, frequency of resistance/non-susceptibility identified by culture source for the inpatient and non-acute care setting, and a mapped collection location per NHSN categories. This data is essential in helping CDC better understand resistance in the U.S. and track regional differences in important resistant pathogens and antimicrobial use. BD is the only provider with antimicrobial resistance data from January 2011 through December 2017 which is necessary for ongoing research efforts. Furthermore, this specialized data is necessary for CDC's commitment to the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Challenge launched at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2018. No other provider has this type of dataset available with the necessary data points. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS; however, all responses received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be reviewed by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
