- STATEMENT OF WORK WATER TREATMENT FOR COOLING TOWERS, CHILLERS AND CLOSED LOOP HEATING & COOLING SYSTEM Background: This firm-fixed price contract shall encompass the development and implementation of a water treatment program for the Northport Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) that will prevent corrosion, promote higher performance efficiency and extend equipment life of the facility s cooling towers, chillers, and closed loop heating and cooling system. The contractor will provide all tools, labor, certified technicians, transportation, chemicals, and associated equipment and supplies necessary to execute the requirements of this contract. It is the contractor s responsibility to ensure all cooling towers, chillers and closed loop heating and cooling systems are treated optimally to include the management and prevention of the Legionella bacteria. Scope: Contractor Furnished Supplies: The contractor shall provide all chemicals, supervision and labor to implement a water treatment program that will prevent fouling on metal surfaces, inhibit corrosion and scale, sanitize, clean, disinfect and control biological growths and Legionella bacteria. The contractor will identify specialty materials and their cost during the submittal period. Contractor represents and warrants that all articles and services covered by this requirement meet or exceed the safety standards established and promulgated under the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 No. 2006, and its regulations in effect or proposed as of the date of the proposal. a. The contractor shall provide specifications for all products proposed for use. This information shall include the following: Product name Ingredients Control Range Physical state (liquid, powder, etc.) Container size Delivery method Technical data Compatibility with feed system materials presently in use Product bulletins Materials safety data sheets (MSDS) 2. Contractor Furnished Services: Contractor shall conduct bi-monthly site visits to check levels and fill as needed, inspect, treat, report, and monitor water treatment services for all systems. During specified visits the contractor will inspect all equipment and perform all analysis required at the site necessary to determine that the water treatment program is being administered properly and that each system is operating at optimum performance. The technician shall provide on-site verbal and written instructions to the COR in the form of a service report, which shall include recommended control ranges and results of analysis by the technician at the time of each visit. A mass balance and Ryznar calculation will be performed to ensure system is being maintained properly. Cooling Towers and Chillers 1. All chiller condenser tubes will be free of scale and biofilm 2.
