Description

The Army is developing a new Bar-Plate type aluminum radiator for Paladin M109A6, 155-MM Self Propelled Howitzer (NSN 2350-01-305-0028) Family of vehicles which is to be a drop in replacement for the current radiator (NSN 2930-01-308-9191) P/N 1235900 and fully backward compatible with the same space claim, mounting and hookup points. The current radiator design needs to be brought up to current industry standards to leverage improved construction, manufacturing and materials that are now available to meet changing mission demands. The current drawing will include updates to the brass-cu design and addition of aluminum option. First Article Test (FAT) requirements will be revised to include cumulative test sequence on a single radiator specimen for vibration, pressure cycle and environmental instead of using different specimens for each, with an overall emphasis on reducing FAT cost and design complexity.
