Description
This is a Sources Sought and is for informational purposes only. This is not a solicitation announcement, nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFP). No solicitation is currently available. This request does not obligate the Government in any contract award. The Government will not pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of such information. Do not submit cost proposals or cost information. Response to this notice is strictly voluntary and will not affect any firm's ability to submit a proposal if and when a solicitation is issued. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District, is conducting market research to determine the business size and capabilities of potential sources for the Aluminum Workboat Repair for two Government owned and operated lock and dam workboats damaged in a navigation accident. The workboats are located at the USACE Pittsburgh District Engineer Warehouse and Repair Shops, 3500 Grand Avenue, Neville Island, PA 15225. The NAICS for the proposed acquisition is 336611 - Ship Building and Repairing, and the size standard is 1,250 employees. The information gathered will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION Description of Work. These specifications cover the requirements for hull repair and mechanical repair of two (2) Government owned and operated lock and dam workboats damaged in a navigation accident. The vessels are identified as "Emsworth Workboat" and "Dashields Workboat". Both vessels are uninspected inland river vessels of all aluminum, welded construction and fitted with twin inboard diesel engines, reverse and reduction gears (transmissions), and typical running gear.
