Description
The Concrete and Materials Branch (CMB) of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) has a requirement to purchase a Zeiss Xradia 620 X-ray microscope manufactured by Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC (Cage: 325W6) under NAICS Code 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing for the non-destructive analysis and characterization of materials. The CMB requires an x-ray microscope with submicron resolution imaging at large working distances to be able to analyze a diverse set of sample sizes and types. The system needs to be able to analyze samples using Resolution at a Distance (RaaD), which enables non-destructive imaging of a samples interior. RaaD uses a scintillator, converting x-rays to a visible light image which is then magnified by microscope optics before acquisition by a CCD detector. By leveraging RaaD, the Xradia Versa maintains highest resolution across large working distances, accommodating both sample, environmental chamber, and high precision load rigs without sacrificing resolution. Due to the nature of the sample geometries and materials being analyzed, the Zeiss Xradia 620 X-ray microscope is the only one that meets the CMBs needs. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes or proposals. A solicitation will not be issued. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. The information submitted must be provided in sufficient detail to demonstrate the vendors ability to fulfill this requirement. The contractor must also provide a description of their past experience in fulfilling requirements which are the same or similar to this requirement and references for each. Vendors may submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing to Angie Stokes by email address angela.m.stokes@usace.army.mil no later than the date stated above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. The determination whether or not to compete this procurement is at the discretion of the Government. All communications in response to this notice must be in writing. No phone calls will be accepted. All communication must include the reference number in the subject line stated above.
