- Description
- This project consists of improvements to the aviation facilities at the Redmond Air Center (RAC) on the Deschutes National Forest. The work will address existing deficiencies and deferred maintenance at the Airtanker Ramp (Work Area 1), Smokejumper Ramp (Work Area 2) and Airtanker Ramp Entry Road (Work Area 3). Work at all three areas will require coordination with the Redmond Airport and/or the US Forest Service for security. The Airtanker Ramp is approximately 380,000 square feet of asphalt pavement and three existing concrete parking pads. New work will include construction of a fourth concrete pad to support a parked Airtanker. This will require demolition of some existing pavement and a new asphalt section around the pad to tie back to the existing asphalt. Additional maintenance work on the Airtanker Ramp will include crack sealing, seal coating the entire surface and restriping. The Smokejumper Ramp is approximately 177,000 square feet of asphalt pavement. Maintenance work on the Smokejumper Ramp will include crack sealing, seal coating the entire surface and restriping. The Airtanker Entry Road is appoximately 31,000 square feet of asphalt. New work will consist of expanding the current asphalt vehicle parking area by adding two additional parking spaces and a construction of a 12 wide asphalt path. Additional maintenance work on the Airtanker Entry Road will include crack sealing, seal coating the entire surface and restriping. Contractors shall utilize products and material made from biobased materials and recovered materials to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing the intended end use or detracting from the overall quality delivered to the end user. All supplies and materials shall be of a quality that conform to applicable Federal specifications and standards. All supplies and materials to be used in performance of work described herein are subject to the approval of the technical representative (COR). Formal advertisement of this project is anticipated in mid to early February, 2020. For technical inquiries please contact: Chad Houchin, COR, (541) 383-5546.
