Description
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) will be holding an AFSC Industry Day on 03 March 2020 at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The event will provide industry attendees with the latest update on the Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) project, which is currently in the second phase of the Concept Stage. BACKGROUND The Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AWACS), which has been NATOs key surveillance and control asset since the 1980s, will be retired in 2035 after 50 years of service. To plan for the required follow-on capability, NATO launched Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) to develop options for future NATO surveillance and control capabilities. In February 2017, NATO initiated the AFSC Concept Stage, with NSPA as the lead NATO agency to conduct studies and develop technical concepts. These studies will help inform future decisions by NATO, individual nations, and multinational groups to acquire new systems before the AWACS fleet retirement. Industry participation is crucial to the success of the AFSC Concept Stage. NSPA is committed to bringing industry perspectives into the development of concepts for future surveillance and control capabilities. NSPA has recently awarded six contracts for the generation of high-level technical concepts. Planning is ongoing for the next step, in which high-level concepts will be further developed and analyzed in Risk Reduction and Feasibility Studies. The Industry Day will provide an opportunity for industry attendees to offer their views. Companies should specify their specific topic of interest related to AFSC. The topics selected will be addressed during the Industry Day. Note: The Industry Day is neither a pre-qualification nor a solicitation conference. HOW TO PARTICIPATE Attached is the AFSC Industry Day Registration Form. Please send your completed Registration Form to afsc_industry_day@nspa.nato.int Do NOT send the form to the Department of Commerce. The deadline for submission of the form is 14 February 2020. Please note that due to space limitations, submitting a registration form does not guarantee attendance at the event. NSPA will send you official confirmation with the agenda when your registration is accepted. NSPA plans to accommodate up to 100 companies, each with two representatives.
