- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source fixed-price purchase order to The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc., for the procurement of a natural history study of rubella-associated granulomatous lesions in aged individuals. This project will estimate the prevalence of rubella virus (RV)-associated granulomas in normal, aged individuals with cutaneous granulomas and assess the frequency and intensity of virus shedding by these long-term RV carriers. These results will help ascertain the impact of long-term RV carriers on CDCs programmatic activities aimed on maintenance of rubella elimination in the United States. TheContractorwill perform retrospective medical chart reviews to determine the numbers of patients with cutaneous granulomas at their institution during 20102020 and collect specimens (archival tissues blocks, prospective nasopharyngeal swabs) to determine the proportion of RV-associated granulomas and likelihood of virus shedding. The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc., has a computerized database of granuloma cases spanning the past 10 years and maintains a unique collection of archival skin biopsy specimens collected during last 10 years. We have not identified any other organization that has the expertise or collection of archival skin tissues necessary to meet this requirement. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to the Contract Specialist at JHouston2@cdc.gov by 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday, February 19, 2019.
