Description
Electrified Aircraft Propulsion Industry Day March 13, 2020 - 8am to 6pm Logistics Management Institute, Inc. 7940 Jones Branch Road, Tysons, Virginia NASA continues to formulate research and technology maturation plans for 1 MW class electrified propulsion concepts for transition to transport aircraft products. Accordingly, NASA will conduct a third Industry Day on March 13, 2020 from 8am to 6pm. Objectives NASA Aeronautics will inform US industry and other government (OG) entities on the current NASA plans for identifying and retiring risks of MW-class EAP systems aimed at future thin haul, regional jet, and single aisle seat class aircraft products. NASA Aeronautics will collect information from US Industry and OG entities on readily available flying testbed assets and capabilities required to retire risks of MW-class EAP systems. NASA is interested in availability between FY21 and FY25. Industry and OG entities should overview their current 1MW-class EAP system flight demonstration plans (including risk, cost, and schedule). Plans should include a description of technology suite and preferred flying testbed/ground test asset(s) to mature the technology suite. Industry and OG entities should identify availability and cost to operate (from FY21 to FY25) the preferred flying testbed/ground test asset. NASA may elect to establish a government furnished common flying testbed/ground test asset for use by Industry and OG partners from FY21 to FY25. The government furnished common flying testbed/ground test asset may be industry owned/operated or government owned/operated. Industry/OG partners should describe their requirements of the common flying testbed/ground test asset. Industry should describe pros and cons of using a government furnished common flying testbed/ground test asset(s) versus their preferred flying testbed/ground test asset(s). NASA is considering multiple potential contract options for the operation of the flying testbed/ground test assets to include single award or multiple award contracts. On March 13, there will be a one-hour NASA session to address objective 1. All registered attendees are welcome to attend the public NASA session. On March 13, there will be up to eight (8) closed/private discussion sessions with NASA to address objectives 2 and 3. The sessions will be 50 minutes in length. US Industry and OG representatives that request a closed session on March 13 with NASA to address objectives 2 and 3, should send their slide deck to NASA by 12pm Eastern Time on March 6. Large slides decks may be submitted via the NASA Large Transfer System (see-attached instructions) Request for access to the system shall be submitted to james.g.williams-1@nasa.gov and karen.l.hadley@nasa.gov. Representatives will be notified of their selection for a private session by noon Eastern March 9. NASA may choose to schedule additional private sessions with Industry and other government agencies via WebEx after March 13. Technical contact: fayette.s.collier@nasa.gov
