- Industry Day U.S Department of Commerce (DOC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Modernization of the Cafeteria in Building 101 Gaithersburg, MD Background The Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology, has a requirement for Construction Services. The purpose of this notice is to invite interested firms to participate in an Industry Day vendor outreach session to communicate an overview of Single Award IDIQ Construction efforts needed for the Building 101 Cafeteria Renovation project. Currently, on the first floor the food preparation area is approximately 2,300 SF. Food is cooked with natural gas and steam from the site. The food dispensing area is 2,500 SF. The dining area is over 12,000 SF. The adjoining dining area is an outdoor courtyard with tables for approximately 100 customers. Located on the basement level are freezers, storage and a full-size loading dock which support the cafeteria�s daily operations. Scope The scope of the project consists of construction services to renovate NIST�s main cafeteria, kitchen and dining areas. Included in the cafeteria renovation will be a new mezzanine for patrons to sit at in the dining area. The mezzanine will be over 3,000 SF. Additionally, a new 500 SF coffee bar will be constructed near the cafeteria on the first floor.� Included in the scope, but not limited to, will be the demolition of walls/flooring/ceilings, new finishes, walls, fixtures, mill work, kitchen appliances, HVAC equipment, lighting, electrical infrastructure upgrades, fire suppression, exterior stairs, landscaping and roofing. Asbestos abatement will be included in the contract. There will not be any project phasing. The existing cafeteria and auxiliary dining spaces will be closed for approximately two (2) years to complete the renovation project. Acquisition Considerations While all of industry are invited to participate, it is highly encouraged that small businesses, to include but not limited to, those approved for the SBA �All Small Business Mentor-Prot�g� Program� participate. If an interested firm in not currently approved for SBA�s �All Small Business Mentor-Prot�g� Program� they are not precluded from attending or forming an agreement with SBA. However, all agreements must be approved prior to any future solicitation close dates. General Information Industry Day will be held from 2:00pm EST to approximately 4:00pm EST on March 23, 2020 at: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 100 Bureau Drive Building 101, Green Auditorium Gaithersburg, MD 20899 Due to space limitations, the number of participants is restricted to five (5) per company. All participants must be U.S. Citizens. Participation by small and small disadvantaged businesses is strongly encouraged.�Interested parties must submit the posted registration form, alphabetized by last name, via e-mail, NLT� 12:00pm EST, March 16, 2020 to Mr. Derek Marriott at derek.marriott@nist.gov . �The first and last names provided must match attendees Photo I.D. (Federally approved state issued driver's license, * Federal ID or original passport) and Vehicle Registration card.� Attendees must provide information in advance in order to ensure access to the Industry Day venue and assure adequate seating for attendees.� Potential offerors are encouraged to submit questions and comments to the Contracting Specialist, Derek Marriott, by 3:00pm EST, March 18, 2020 at�derek.marriott@nist.gov. The Government may address these questions on Industry Day or subsequently post responses on Beta.Sam.��Attendees will have the opportunity to submit additional questions during Industry Day and those questions may be addressed during the question and answer session or afterwards on Beta.Sam.
