BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Radiation Physics Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Physical Measurement Laboratory develops, maintains, and disseminates the national measurement standards for ionizing radiation and radioactivity, and methods and models to address related applications. To fulfill its mission, the Neutron Physics Group of the Radiation Physics Division utilizes two high purity germanium-crystal gamma-ray (HPGe) detectors for an Alpha-Gamma device, which is operated on a beam line at the NIST Center for Neutron Research. The two Ortec HPGe detectors have reached their end-of-life. Subsequently, NIST requires two replacement HPGe detectors. Note: Reference attachments for complete Combined Synopsis/Solicitation
