- Description
- Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) has a requirement for 1,553 Wagner Steriset containers to be used in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). These Wagner sterilization containers are closed aluminum containers utilized to hold medical instruments during the sterilization process and preserve the sterile state until they are removed for use in the Operating Room (OR). They are designed to handle full instrumentation for small to major surgical cases. Procurement of this equipment has been authorized under other than full and open competition, under FAR Part 6.3. The Government intends to conduct this procurement on a sole source basis from Medline Industries, Inc. Medline Industries, Inc. is the sole distributor in the United States. These containers are the only completely reusable sterilization container currently on the market. Due to their complete reusability, these containers reduce long-term costs. Additionally, compared to other forms of instrument sterilization, they are much more environmentally friendly due to their elimination of any waste produced from disposables. Finally, the Wagner sterilization container eliminates exposure to contaminants due to its double-lid structure and contamination drain to allow for the flow of remaining condensate out of the container, as opposed to exposure created by wrap punctures and tears. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposal. All capability statements received within three (3) calendar days after date of publication of this notice will be reviewed by the Government and considered. Statements must be received no later than (NLT) 1pm EST. However, a determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Should your firm desire to submit a capability statement, it should demonstrate the Offerors experience and expertise to provide the services identified above within the time frame required and without substantial duplication of cost to the Government. The statement shall include business size, ability to self-perform work, layers of subcontracting, and any other information indicating a legitimate ability to meet these specific requirements. Statements should not exceed five (5) pages in length. Written inquiries may be directed to michael.e.pirone.ctr@mail.mil. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. A copy of the Justification and Approval will be posted no later than fourteen (14) days after award.
