- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers�(USACE) Detroit�District is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to determine a competitive basis for construction of the New Soo Lock Resident Office located in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan.� This is not a solicitation.� No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this Sources Sought posting. This notice is for market research purposes only.� Only contractors capable of performing this type of work should respond to this RFI notice.� The�contemplated NAICS code for this action is�236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, with a SBA size standard of $39.5 Million in average annual receipts. Requirement: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers�(USACE)�Detroit District is seeking firms that have the capability to provide construction services for the installation of a modular-style office structure on Water Street in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. The office shall be placed within the boundary of the current Soo Locks facility. Below is a general overview of the scope of work: Relocate the existing fence line of the Soo Locks facility to create more space within the desired project area. (See attachment labeled Preliminary Site Plan). Clear and grade office site area including tree removal and a small amount of concrete sidewalk demolition. Installation of utilities (water, sewer, electric, data/communications). This work will require trenching. Supply and install a modular office to house twenty-four�(24) Corps of Engineers field supervision staff and project engineers. The office must remain on-site and ownership must be turned over to the government as a contractor furnished material. The modular office must include: four (4) offices with windows in the doors for opposite sex supervisory requirements, male restrooms with 2 restroom stalls, two (2) urinals, and two (2) washbasins, female restrooms with two to three (2-3) stalls, two (2) washbasins, a conference meeting room capable of seating thirty (30) people, kitchenette including two (2) refrigerators, two (2) microwaves, cabinets, and tables and chairs for twelve (12) people, large mudroom off an entry to accommodate large lockers for twenty (20) people, large supply room for office inventory, personal protective equipment (PPE) storage for visitors, and secured and unsecured storage areas for records, and twenty (20) L-shaped cubicles for the remainder of employees. The modular office must be suitable in size (4,000 square feet minimum) for twenty-four (24) full-time employees to comfortably work. The office shall be fully furnished including all workstations, chairs, storage, appliances, etc. The modular office shall be securely anchored to the ground to guard against movement during high winds. Tie-in the utilities to the office, place new sidewalk/concrete flat work to connect the office to existing pathways, and restoration site work/seeding. The work described above is required to be complete and ready for Government occupancy prior to Spring of 2021.
