- INCINERATOR REFRACTORY REPAIR/RENEW SCOPE The intent of this item is for the Contractor to repair/renew the refractory and replace components within the waste handling incinerator. Most recent inspection noted upper 2/3rd of secondary combustion chamber missing refractory and bricks/partitions visible.� Government Furnished Property:� None REFERENCES Coast Guard Drawings: 420-WAGB 801-001, Rev -; BOOKLET OF GENL DRAWINGS Applicable Documents: NAVSEA T9593-AS-MM0-A10, Incinerator, Sludge and Waste, Model ASWI 402 AS - USCGC HEALY (WAGB 20) REQUIREMENTS The Contractor shall provide all labor and material to accomplish the following in accordance with the General Requirements: GENERAL 3.1.1 The waste incinerator is located in the Waste Handling and Incinerator Room, compartment 1-55-2-Q, shown in CG Dwg 420-WAGB 801-001, Rev -.� The intent of this item is to conduct a thorough inspection, and renew refractory in the incinerator.� . 3.1.2� Lock-out/Tag-Out � Secure, isolate, and LOTO all affected mechanical, piping, and electrical systems in accordance with the General Requirements. 3.1.3 Interferences � The Contractor shall remove, modify, or protect all interferences to the work.� All interferences that are removed shall be tagged to facilitate proper reinstallation.� Ensure that all removed equipment is kept in a clean, dry, protected location.� Obtain verification from the Coast Guard Inspector for the protective measures taken for equipment not removed. GAS FREE CERTIFICATION 3.1.4.1 Gas free and certify affected compartments as required to accomplish the work in this specification item.� Gas free the compartments in accordance with the General Requirements.� The affected compartments must be certified �Safe for Personnel� for the duration of inside incerator work performed under this item. 3.1.4.2 Gas Free Certificates indicating the current status of each compartments shall be posted on the Quarterdeck and at each open access to the compartments.� Provide one copy to the Coast Guard Inspector. 01 ����������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� Rev 1 REFRACTORY REPAIRS 3.2.1 Disassemble the incinerator as required to obtain access to the primary and secondary combustion chambers.�� 3.2.2 Clean out all unburned waste and carbon or soot build-ups from the primary and secondary combustion chambers.� 3.2.3 With the assistance of ship's force and in the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector, inspect the interior of the incinerator.� Submit a condition found report (CFR) to the Coast Guard Inspector documenting any damages and making repair recommendations.�� 3.2.4 Clean the loose dust and debris out of cracks in the refractory between the primary and secondary combustion chambers.� 3.5.5 Make repairs to existing refractory lining IAW manufacturer�s TP. Adhere to OEM instructions regarding the proper drying. 3.5.6 Conduct an inspection of refractory tiles and submit CFR. 3.2.11 Remove existing and install new Ash Door 71-D-4005 and Ash Door Cylinder Lock Assembly 87-M-4028. 3.2.14 Remove and install new ignition cables P/N 77-S-4010 and igniter P/N 77-S-4009 3.2.16 Clean out all waste generated by the repairs from the primary and secondary combustion chambers and restore the chambers to operating condition. 3.2.17 Allow the incinerator to air dry for 24 hours.� After 24 hours, re-inspect the interior of the incinerator in the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector.� Demonstrate that all repairs have been completed to the satisfaction of the Coast Guard Inspector.�� 3.2.18 After the Coast Guard Inspector has approved the repairs, reassemble the incinerator and return it to operating condition.� Restore all removed parts.�� ACCEPTANCE TESTING 3.3.1 Operational Test � With the aid of ship's force, test operate the waste incinerator to ensure that the incinerator has been restored to proper operation.� Verify proper operation of the components or systems affected by this work.
