- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Marshfield Clinic Research Institutefor a MMR3 long-term follow up study to study the role of genetics in vaccine-response to measles, mumps, and rubella following the third dose of Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) The objective of this study is to examine HLA associations with immune response (neutralizing antibody titer) to measles, mumps, and rubella and safety following receipt of a third dose of MMR vaccine among young adults. Depending on the enrollment, we may be able to assess these outcomes after the second dose. Information from this study can provide better understanding regarding those who do not respond or generate low antibody response to (repeat) vaccination and thus remain potentially susceptible to disease. The participants had originally received their third MMR dose in 2009-2010 between 18-24 years of age. This cohort is well characterized; subjects sera results are available from immediately prior to the third dose, as well as one month, one year, and 5 years following the administration of the third dose. Blood samples for serology testing at 9 years since the third dose are collected during June 1, 2019-May 31, 2021. CDC does not have the capability to do genetic testing on the samples. Tasks to be Performed: Task 1: The contractor shall perform targeted sequencing of DNA samples from blood specimens of participants who agreed to participate in the genetic evaluation study when they were enrolled in the MMR3 Long-Term Follow-Up Study at the 9 year follow up visit. Testing shall be performed at the contractors facility. The panel shall cover classic genes in the class I (HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-C) and II (HLA-DRB1/3/4/5, HLA-DQA1, HLA-DQB1, HLA-DPA1, and HLA-DPB1) HLA genomic regions. The sequenced regions should be adequate to allow determination of the HLA alleles for that gene. Task 2: When ordered by the Contracting Officer, the contractor will process additional samples in accordance with the requirements set forth in Task 1. Task 3: The Contractor shall prepare a final report of findings on the results of the testing. Place of Performance: Contractor's Facility; No travel is anticipated. Period of Performance: July 1, 2020 - May 31, 2022 This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to Contract Specialist at pyx9@cdc.gov by COB 06-02-2020.
