Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to American Academy of Pediatrics 345 Park Boulevard Itasca, IL 60143 to expand DVDs AFM communication outreach and suite of materials targeted to clinicians that provide medical care to pediatric patients. The American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP, is a respected professional network of more than 67,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. AAP is the only vendor that has the ability to reach, engage, and educate a range of clinicians who provide medical care to children with AFM, including emergency and urgent care physicians, pediatricians, family practice physicians, neurologists, infectious disease specialists, critical care providers, radiology specialists, hospitalists, rehabilitation specialists, and orthopedists. AAP is the only vendor in the position to fulfill this requirement through access to their expansive network of pediatric professionals who can help shape the content to adequately address the needs of practicing clinicians who may be involved in care for children affected by AFM. No other organization has the ability or reach that AAP can provide CDC in furthering our AFM programmatic work. CDCs goal with this contract is to utilize AAPs knowledge base and network to create and distribute educational materials to increase awareness about AFM and promote prompt recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and reporting of AFM cases. Market research on organizations and companies that provide similar searches was done using internet searches, trade organization affiliations, and partner outreach. This research did not yield any other national, disease-specific organization that could provide the insights into the needs of the AFM-affected community and reach the target audience more effectively. CDC identified AAP as the only choice to conduct the pediatrician-focused AFM communications and education work. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to contract specialist Maria Shamburger at heg9@cdc.gov by COB July 2, 2020.
