- Description
- The US Air Force has been tasked to iteratively establish a Joint All Domain Command & Control (JADC2)--formerly referred to as Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)--capability to support actions within 15 minutes or less as part of complex coalition actions in order to find better ways to establish situational awareness, develop Courses of Action (COAs), and deliver effects at unmatched speed with Joint and coalition partners. The intent of these JADC2 capability is to establish future areas of operation will be Joint, multi- national, multi-regional, inter-agency in varying locales, and will develop at extraordinary speeds. In 2019, the Air Force established the MDO Challenge (SAM Special Notice FA8726-19- AFWERX) led by AFWERX in order to uncover potential solutions for a completely integrated MDO system, specific components of an integrated platform, or an integration layer that would create the basis for multi-domain operations designed for: Real-time data collection, validation, and analysis; AI-based human augmented decision making; Data security, identity, and trusted access; Real-time communication to multiple players via a decentralized network Automation is an important consideration as we seek to speed up decision support, decision making, and communication. The AFWERX challenge uncovered more than 300 potential solutions which were reviewed by peers and Department of Defense (DoD) experts in order to be considered for competitive awards made by both government and affiliated non-government entities. This CSO solicitation is a competition seeking demonstrations from the top 30 teams selected by the DoD reviewers from the over 300 submissions in order to showcase their potential solution to USAF and other DoD potential customers.
