Description

In 2017 The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps�began researching vendors to replace the custom built B flat bugle manufactured by Zig Kanstul currently used by the Corps. Kanstul no longer manufactures instruments. A new vendor capable of developing and manufacturing a ""one off"" instrument at a reasonable price per unit price is required. Development costs are prohibitive for all but the smaller companies who are set up to deliver small quantities of hand crafted instruments. Two prototypes were sourced, but due to quality, tonal and mechanical short falls, did not meet the mission requirements of the organization. In 2019 BAC Musical Instruments purchased the physical assets of Kanstul Musical Instruments and were therefore in a unique position to produce a replacement bugle similar to the one currently in use. The development costs for a new brass instrument are significant, and owning the templates and tools used for the current bugle gives them the ability to make the organization's instruments without this up front cost. A prototype was ordered, and it proved to be both a quality musical instrument at a reasonable price point for current industry standards.� The U.S. Army intends to issue a Sole Source award to BAC Musical Instruments.� A statement of Work is also attached for reference.� Interested parties must submit a capability statement to the following POC for review.� SSG Charlotte Balangue Supply NCO - The United States Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps charlotte.o.balangue.mil@mail.mil ���
