- Description
- In Vitro Evaluation of Food Impacting Gut Microbiota DNA sequencing of microbial samples at the species to strain level including bioinformatic analysis comparing alpha and beta diversity between samples. Samples will be shipped overnight on dry ice to the Cooperator for DNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis. Cosmosid Inc. has invented and patented an advanced analytical instrument/technology for DNA sequence at the species- strain level. The technology precisely reflects sample composition without bias and loss of diversity. We, in ARS, do not possess better or similar instrument and technology. The sequencing reads will be analyzed for quality and bioinformatics analysis performed. The results will then be sent to the USDA. (1) providing species-strain level identification of the community members within each sample, (2) provide bioinformatical comparisons regarding changes that occuring within the community at a species-strain level in response to dietary components, such as milk, wheat, or lactose. If needed, CosmosID can perform inhouse bioinformatic analysis that goes beyond the metagenomic analysis on the CosmosID cloud. CosmosID capabilities include functional analysis and advanced statistical analysis based on the project
