Description
Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) PMA260 is soliciting information and comments from industry on its ability to provide a developmental application for a ruggedized, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) Barcode Scanner (BCS).� The development application(s) should allow the user to download a comma separated values (CSV) text file containing inventory data from a personal computer (PC). Data in this file will be stored in the scanner and allow the barcode to be validated as the inventory is scanned. If the barcode is not found, then the user would enter into the scanner the data from the data plate. Additionally, the development application(s) should allow the user to upload from the scanner the scanned and keyed information. Respondents to this RFI shall provide: An overview of your BCS Concept of Operations A general description of your BCS products and technology As much detail as possible on: � Unit size and weight The ability to receive Comma Separated Values (CSV) data files and to update inventory-verification data The ability to upload/download barcode data from/to a computer via a USB �connection Internal Data Storage capability and capacity The ability to enter data manually into the scanner Battery chemistry and technology and the maximum runtime on a single charge Type of battery charger Screen technology and the ambient lighting conditions under which the screen can be viewed and read accurately by the operator 4. The environmental standards and test methods to which your BCS has been designed and subjected, the test results, and the environmental conditions for which your BCS is designed to operate; e.g., electromagnetic compatibility (susceptibility and emissions), operating and storage temperatures (maximum and minimum), humidity, and high-impact shock (drops on hard surfaces and rough handling) 5. Information on any DoD contracts and what data products were submitted under those contracts. Any commercial contracts or testimonials are also welcome with points of contact for any of these references 6. Information on your company�s small / large business status, 8A status, HUB-Zone status, veteran- / woman-owned status, and any past or present Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) awards related to your BCS 7. Pertinent product datasheets and user manuals 8. Production lead time from receipt of order to production delivery 9. Additional information you think would be useful for the Government to consider. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY.� THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE.�The Government is seeking industry input to assist in identifying features and approaches to meet the general requirements described above. Please note that the Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties responding to this RFI. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Interested sources should provide the information and related data to John Murtagh by email at john.c.murtagh@navy.mil, no later than 25 days 5:00 EST (with the preference being sooner) after the post date of this RFI. All information sent should reference this RFI number on the subject response line of the emailed response as well as on all enclosed documents. Responses must include the company name, address, point of contact name and email/phone, and company size. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis and will be kept confidential and protected where so designated. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. Respondents may provide information and Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM) on any currently available product or a company's' capabilities that will meet the Navy's needs.
