Mermaid Lane - Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania 19038 Minimum requirements The USDA, Sustainable Biofuels and Co-Products research unit at the USDA-ARS Eastern Regional Research Center is seeking to purchase a pressurized 2 L reactor vessel. The unit shall be utilized to chemically pretreat agricultural feedstocks at larger scale in order to test scalability of pretreatment processes and to generate sufficient quantities of pretreated feedstock for downstream hydrolysis and fermentation studies, and lignin recovery from pretreatment liquor. The pressurized reactor vessel should include: 2 L reactor vessel that can operate at temperature conditions that range from 120C to 200C and be pressurized up to 60 bar (what is 60 bar ?) Bar is a metric unit of pressure. Reactor vessel must be chemically compatible with organic solvents (acetone or ethanol), and be resistant to low concentrations of sulfuric acid (< 1% in solution) Mixing and temperature control The reactor vessel must include some form of control unit where the user can change mixing speed, or operating temperature. Heating apparatus capable of achieving desired temperature range (what is the range ? ) This is the same as above.) The temperature range for this research is indeed stated above. I added this bullet point because some vendors do not automatically include a heating apparatus with the reactor vessel and might make it a separate purchase. Key critically urgent specification/minimum requirement. The reactor must be able to withstand at most 1% sulfuric acid in solution. This represents the upper concentration limit for the research I am performing. The lower concentration limit USDA will research will be as low as 0.1% sulfuric acid in solution.
