Description
Pursuant to 13.106-1(b), The National Science Foundation (NSF) intends to make an award to American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) to serve as a sponsor of the 2020 AISES National Conference Achieve Inspire Support Explore Succeed on October 15-17, 2020, in Spokane, WA. Due to the current pandemic, the in-person workshop may be converted to a virtual workshop. The American Indian Science and Engineering Society is focused on substantially increasing the representation of North Americas Indigenous people (Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, First Nations, Metis, Inuit) in STEM studies and careers. This robust nonprofit currently supports student and professional members across the US and Canada in critically needed STEM disciplines. Through chartered college and university chapters, professional chapters, tribal chapters, and affiliated K-12 schools, members benefit from diverse STEM-focused programing that supports careers and promotes student success and workforce development in multiple crucial areas. The AISES National Conference is the premier event for Indigenous STEM professionals and students. Sponsorship in this Conference provides NSF an unparalleled opportunity to connect with up to 2,500 participants who are focused on learning the important trends, needs, and research impacting indigenous STEM studies and careers. At the issuance of this order, the funding will cover the cost of recognition in the conference program, association with other sponsoring organizations, and the opportunity to disseminate materials. The notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This synopsis is for informational purposes only
