Description
The Naval Postgraduate School's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department has a requirement for specialized software to teach a Mobile Telecommunications Fundamentals Course. The software must be capable of running on virtual machines to provide for a DL class (provide point-to-multipoint studies). The software must display visual cellular route mapping over satellite imagery. The software must support a variety of propagation models, explicitly the Anderson-2D model, using Orthogonal Freq. Division Multiple Access (OFDM) waveforms. The software must calculate Base Station height requirements for line of sight propagation. The software must perform bit error calculations and service availability predictions. Minimal Technical Requirements/Salient Characteristics: Software for Labs associated with the classWe require an industry standard software package for terrain-based cellular base station analysis and placement planning. One that allows for route planning, service quality analysis and throughput predictions to be visually mapped directly on satellite imagery. The software must be capable of running on virtual machines to provide for a DL class (provide point-to-multipoint studies). The software must display visual cellular route mapping over satellite imagery. The software must support a variety of propagation models, explicitly the Anderson-2D model, using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDM) waveforms. The software must calculate Base Station height requirements for line of sight propagation. The software must perform bit error calculations and service availability predictions. The software must provide the capability to emulate the RF network environments specifically for 4G cell phone (LTE), localized Low Power, Wide Area Network (LoRa - Long Range) and Internet or Things (IoT).
