- Description
- This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order and is not a request for quotations. The Department of Commerce/NOAA/NWS intends to negotiate with and issue a sole source, firm fixed price award to OTEK Corporation 4016 E Tennessee St Tucson,AZ,85714-2130 ,UNITED STATES,under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR13.106-1(b), and as authorized by FAR 6.303 and will incorporates clauses that are in effect throughFederal Acquisition Circular 2020-07, effective date 08-03-2020. These ammeters are custom designs for the NEXRAD systems specifically. NEXRAD is the weather radar used by the NWS, DOD and FAA. It's what most TV stations use to show rain and storms. It is capable of detecting tornadoes as they form. The ammeter main function is to show current draw (how many amps are being used) but in the case of the NEXRAD radar, it also has alarm circuits that run through it. If the ammeter fails, the radar stops operating. It is a safety feature that prevents excessive current from destroying multiple sections of the radar. All spares for this system are required to be identical to the item which was provided with the original equipment. It is not possible to substitute for this item or use the suggested replacement. This notice of intent is not a request for quotes. It is for informational purposes only and shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government. Interested parties may identify their interest by providing a capability statement. The capability statement must provide clear, concise and unambiguous evidence substantiating capabilities that would be advantageous to the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. No solicitation package is available. Oral communications will not be accepted.
