- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Atlanta VA Medical Center, is in need of an equipment of a motion analysis system. This requirement is necessary to gather clinically relevant data to help improve the lives of Veterans living with movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson s Disease, Alzheimer s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, and Multiple Sclerosis. This motion analysis system would allow investigators to capture kinematics and gait speed or other gait variables in research participants and expand the current methods by which we can characterize their behavior. A system is needed to conduct various motor assessments, including Timed Up and Go, Tandem Walk, 360° Turn Test, and Sit to Stand. Our research requires some testing and evaluation outside of the movement science laboratory, so equipment that can be used away from the laboratory environment is needed Additionally, investigators would benefit from being able to collect other mobility measures, such as gait, dynamic gait, balance, and fall risk. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: ****This equipment will NOT be connected to the VA network**** System must be capable of performing an automated kinematic analysis, including measurement of joint angles and spatiotemporal gait and balance metrics System must be able to measure intervention response by recording natural movement and then measuring change in stride length, turn duration, or tremor after an intervention. System must be able to collect raw inertial data System must be able to perform functional tests such as Walk, Timed Up and Go (TUG), Sit to Stand, 360° Turn test and compare outcomes to normative data Equipment must be able to continuously measure activity levels and tremor Equipment must be able to wirelessly synchronize with multiple movement sensors Equipment must be wearable and portable so movements can be measured and analyzed in a natural environment The vendor/contractor shall ensure equipment specifications are listed in under salient characteristics. Security clearance is not required. Installation of the system will be provided by certified representative, however no access to VA network will be needed at any time. The system will not be connected to the VA network. It is a stand-alone system used for scientific computing. This is a Sources Sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (large business, small business, 8(a), SDVOSB, etc.), relative to NAICS code 334516. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Based on responses to this synopsis, the Government may issue this RFQ as a Brand Name or Equal requirement in accordance with VAAR Clause 852.211-73 on eBuy or Fed Biz Ops. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement and who is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), authorized dealer, authorized distributor or authorized reseller of all the items listed above, may submit a capability statement to the contracting office than no later than Wednesday, August 19. 2020, 12:00 PM EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Rachael Talbott Rachael.Talbott@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
