- Solicitation Number: 36C24720Q1088 / Amendment 4 / Site Visited Added Notice Type: Combined Synopsis/Solicitation Synopsis: This is a COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for solicitation, evaluation, and award as prescribed under FAR 13.1, and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. (ii) The solicitation number is 36C24720Q1088 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) (iii) The provisions and clauses incorporated into this solicitation document are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2020-05/03-30-2020. Provisions and clauses incorporated by reference have the same force and effect as if they were given in full text. I. Introduction The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC is seeking service to furnish and install automatic sliding doors in building 22 located at the Medical Center. All items must be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Quotes MUST be good for 60 calendar days after close of solicitation. Should this be aluminum and glass? or do you want a true stainless steel clad / finish (very expensive and long lead time) ANSWER 1: Aluminum and glass would be permissible as long as the material is in accordance with industry standards. QUESTIONS 2: 0002 Storefront door states 3/8 thick glass? ¼ is typical or 1 IG unit, 3/8 thick is normally associated with full glass door (no aluminum frame). ANSWER 2: That information is representative of an example for quotation purposes. Awarded contractor shall submit selected door for review and approval, door of typical thickness is appropriate for submission and review. Thickness requirement will be based on style of door and should be in accordance with industry standard for that style. Any door selected should match the requirements of the SOW (low profile frame or frameless.) QUESTIONS 3: Can work be performed during normal hours? ANSWER 3: Yes, contractor should have uninhibited access to the space during normal work hours QUESTIONS 4: Please confirm that there is a clean asbestos survey? ANSWER 4: Yes, The latest asbestos survey will be sent to the awarded contractor as a part of kickoff. QUESTION 5: Could you please tell me if the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation posted as solicitation number 36C24720Q1088 will be a follow-on requirement to any work performed currently or in the past, or will this be a new requirement? If possible, can you please provide the most recent contract or task order number? ANSWER 5: This requirement is new and independent from any work performed in the past or to be performed in the future. QUESTION 6: Please provide location with respect to the electrical panel s location that will serve the new automatic doors to feed from. If photos or as-build drawings can be provided it would help as well to clarify the scope. ANSWER 6: Assume a distance of 250 linear feet from new door installation to nearest electric panel QUESTION 7: Is it the VA s intent for any flooring changes to be made in this project? ANSWER 7: This will be handled separately from this requirement, not included in this project. QUESTIONS 8: If flooring changes are to be made, can the VA please provide the floor details for all areas necessary for this project? ANSWER 8: N/A QUESTION 9: Is it the VA s intent for any sprinkler and/or fire alarm work to be associated with this project? a. Contractor cannot verify if proper sprinkler coverage will be present with new work being performed under this scope of work. ANSWER 9: Modification to sprinkler system will be handled separately from this requirement. QUESTION 10: Inside of the panel the VA chooses for the power to be ran from, is there currently an appropriately sized, available breaker so that power can be adequately ran to the new automatic door(s)? ANSWER 10: Assumption is no breaker is included. Space will be made available for appropriately sized breaker by Maintenance and Operations QUESTION 11: There are new glazing requirements per scope of work, are there any specific requirements that need to be met? If so, please provide specification. ANSWER 11: A frosted logo has been requested for the sliding door, Frosting will not be required on the glass storefront offices. The logo will be distributed to the awarded contractor in the format they request with any material selection being approved by COR QUESTION 12: To provide adequate framing for new store front system, can the VA please provide the height from the ceiling to the underside of the decking? ANSWER 12: The height from the ceiling to the deck above is 2.5 feet at the low points and 3.18 feet at the high points.
