- This is a combined Synopsis/solicitation for the United States �Department of Agriculture, �Agriculture Research Service, �prepared in accordance with the format to Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this solicitation. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotes are being requested and a written notice, will not be issued. Solicitation Number 1007781 - is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). This solicitation �document �incorporates �provisions and �clauses which are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2020-06 dated June 5, 2020.� �This solicitation shall be �reserved for Small Businesses � with a small business size standard of 1000 employees � ref: NAICS code: 334516 SHIP TO ADDRESS � 600 E. Mermaid Lane - �Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania 19038 ��� Please make sure You include (Not to Exceed) Shipping Charges to the address listed directly above � when submitting Your quote. � Minimum Requirements � USDA is �requesting the purchase of a benchtop X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. The instrument will be used for the nondestructive trace elemental analysis of solid samples. Primarily, we would use the XRF to characterize 1) carbonaceous solids, such as coke or coal, and 2) heterogeneous catalysts, before/after reaction (e.g. zeolites). Desired features: - ability to scan multiple samples automatically in one operation - detection/measurement of: Na, Mg, Si, P, S, K, Ca, Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Ni, Zn. - detection/measurement of other transition metals - fit on a benchtop and be easily transportable - software for automatic analysis of XRF spectra Desired applications: - production of renewable carbonaceous solids for electrical and/or mechanical applications - improvement of catalyst properties; analysis of catalyst deactivation Our research unit focuses on the development of bio-renewable fuels and valuable chemical coproducts. The equipment obtained would enable the facile determination of both catalyst and coproduct quality. Such results would be used to determine feasibility of biorefinery scale-up procedures.
