The National Library of Medicine (NLM) History of Medicine (HMD) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with, Jonathan A. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR 13.� The North American Classification System Code (NAICS) is 511130.� The business size standard is 1,000 employees. A Wholesale Trade or Retail Trade business concern submitting an offer or a quote on a supply acquisition is categorized as a nonmanufacturer and deemed small if it has 500 or fewer employees and meets the requirements of 13 CFR 121.406.) The National Library of Medicine is one of four national libraries in the United States and is the world's largest and most comprehensive medical library.� The congressionally mandated mission of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) is, in part, to collect, organize and disseminate global literature related to both research in and practice of medicine and its related fields; and to provide reference and research assistance to aid in the exchange of scientific and other information important to the progress of medicine and to public health.�� NLM also has a congressional mandate to collect original literature and artifacts deemed of historic significance to scholars of medical history, many of which are one-of-a-kind.� This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responses received no later than the closing date of this announcement will be considered by the government.� A determination by the government not to compete this proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.� Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.� This action is under the authority of 41 U.S.C.253 (c) (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13 to use simplified acquisition procedures for commercial acquisitions.
