- San Antonio Missions National Historical Park - Rehabilitation and Stabilization of the Mission Espada North Gate per the scope of work. Task 1: Assessment of necessary changes to the existing gate in order to straighten the walls and stabilize the two wall sections. a. Park Staff will approve design prior to deconstruction of the existing walls. b. The design should be minimally invasive to the existing Spanish Colonial foundations and other potential archeological features. Task 2. Deconstruction of existing walls in such a way as to map location of stones and allow reconstruction as closely as possible to existing gates as structural stability will allow. a. Deconstruction should also be done in a way to preserve the stone as much as possible. b. All ground disturbing activities in deconstruction and reconstruction will be monitored by professional archeologists. Task 3. Reconstruction of the two wall sections. This reconstruction should follow the previous design as closely as possible, allowing for structural stability. a. Replacement mortar should use the mortar mix identified below. b. If the footprint for rehabilitation and stabilization goes beyond the 2019 archeological investigations, further archeological investigations will be required. c. Removal of any archeological features during the project will only be done after consultation with the park COR. d. Reconstruction of the two wall sections should be done in a way to minimize damage to the Spanish Colonial foundations. e. Spanish colonial Foundations should be protected from modern footers or construction with landscape fabric and if necessary, a protective layer of sand or small gravel to protect it. f. If replacement stone is necessary, it should match the type and style of the existing stone to the extent possible. Task 4: Final Documentation 1. Before and after photographs. 2. Design plans and as�built drawings. 3. Archeological report on monitoring and any excavations that meets SHPO guidelines
