In 2003, the development of the mission essential Search and Rescue Optimal Planning System (SAROPS) began to support the United States Coast Guard's (USCG) Search and Rescue Mission. Four years later in 2007, SAROPS deployed to all USCG Sector, District and Area Command Centers, SAROPS has since been in operation. SAROPS is a Command and Control tool used for the direction of military forces. The ultimate SAROPS product is a Search Action Plan with search assignments for search and rescue units. While the central function of SAROPS is to model drift simulations and then to establish optimal search plans there are other essential capabilities including geospatial analytics, a variety of map services and interfaces withother USCG, DOD and other command and control systems. The contractor will provide sustainment services by maintaining the software and infrastructure components of SAROPS and support services for futher refinement of the system to ensure all operational, functional and system requirements are met and theSAROPS system's platform remains viable.
